Shahriar Ravari: Pioneer of Kerman’s First Indoor Stadium and Girls’ Art School

The late Arbab Shahriar Ravari, a respected merchant and philanthropist, made lasting contributions to Kerman. He built the city’s first indoor stadium and played a key role in advancing education and culture.

Born in 1266 SH (1887 CE) during the final years of the Qajar dynasty, Ravari founded a girls’ elementary school, Shahriyari, in 1297 SH (1918 CE). Known for his integrity and determination, he served on the Kerman Municipality Association, managed commercial affairs in the city’s bazaar, and was an active member and multiple-term head of the Kerman Zoroastrian Association.

In the 1340s SH (1960s CE), he developed Kerman’s first stadium with a 10,000-square-meter grass field, and in 1329 SH (1950 CE), he established the city’s first girls’ art school.

Ravari devoted his life to the progress of education, culture, and community life in Kerman. He spent his later years grieving the loss of his wife and two children, Ardeshir and Khosrow. He passed away from a heart attack on 26 Dey 1332 SH (January 16, 1954) at age 66, leaving a lasting legacy of philanthropy and civic dedication.
