Behshid Barkhordar took part in the third session of the Center for Interfaith and Cultural Dialogue, which was held in Zagreb, Croatia.
In a report shared with Amordad, Behshid Barkhordar, the representative of Zoroastrians in the Iranian Parliament, provided details of the event. Organized by the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, the session featured the Iranian Ambassador and the Islamic community of Croatia. This was the third round of dialogue between the Iranian delegation, led by the head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, a presidential advisor on religious and ethnic affairs, and representatives from the Jewish and Assyrian communities, along with Behshid Barkhordar, who also represents the Armenians in Tehran and the northern region. The meeting, which was attended by Croatia’s Minister of Culture and Media and representatives from other religious communities in Croatia and the Vatican, focused on the role of interfaith dialogue in promoting peace and security globally.
The Iranian delegation, alongside their Croatian counterparts, emphasized the importance of joint efforts by all monotheistic religions to establish lasting peace. The discussions also touched upon the challenges of interfaith dialogue, highlighting the unfortunate spread of misinformation about Iran in Western media. Despite these challenges, efforts were made during the trip to present a more accurate and positive image of Iran.
Religious scholars who had visited Iran shared their positive experiences, noting that their direct observations of life in Iran were vastly different from the negative portrayals they had heard in foreign media.
At the conclusion of the session, all participants agreed that strengthening interfaith dialogue and building stronger connections between countries can lead to greater religious understanding, cultural cooperation, and a more peaceful and secure world.
