On Friday, the 5th of Dey, coinciding with Khor Izad in the Zoroastrian calendar, a ceremony marking the passing of Ashu Zarathushtra was held at the Zoroastrian Center of California in Orange County.
The afternoon event began with an Avesta recitation by Mobed Fariborz Shahzadi. Following the recitation, Keyvan Fallahati, a member of the Zoroastrian Association of California, paid tribute to Ashu Zarathushtra and reflected on his teachings: “He calls upon humans to think deeply, make conscious choices, and embrace responsibility.”
Fallahati emphasized that Zarathushtra’s message encourages building the world through Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds, adding: “The anniversary of Ashu Zarathushtra’s passing is a moment to reflect on a fundamental question: with the choices we make today, how will we shape the future of the world?”
Mobed Manek Bujwala then recited a poem about Ashu Zarathushtra, honoring the great Iranian teacher. The gathering concluded with refreshments for attendees.
