Six Health Secrets Discussed at the Zoroastrian Women’s Organization

The Zoroastrian Women’s Organization of Tehran held an expert meeting on the first Monday of Shahrivar, featuring a talk by Anousheh Bastani on the prevention and management of forgetfulness and dementia.

The event began with a reading, followed by a speech from Mobed Anousheh Bastani, a psychology expert and consultant on healthy living skills. Bastani first addressed the topic of forgetfulness and dementia, discussing their signs, symptoms, and varying degrees. She then highlighted often-overlooked factors that, if not properly addressed, can contribute to forgetfulness and increase the risk of dementia. These factors include vision and hearing impairments, muscle weakness and immobility, as well as untreated “silent” diseases such as calcium deficiency, high blood fat, blood pressure issues, blood sugar levels, sinus problems, and hormonal imbalances. Bastani also shared practical insights on addressing these health concerns.

She recommended that individuals between the ages of 40 and 50 undergo a full medical checkup once a year. She then outlined six essential health principles: maintaining proper humidity and cleanliness of the air in the home, nutrition, balancing movement and rest, sleep and wakefulness, the elimination and retention of substances, and managing mental states and emotions.

At the end of the session, Anousheh Bastani, the program’s expert, addressed religious questions related to these health principles. She also offered numerous tips on traditional medicine and emphasized the importance of specific practices for Zoroastrians to prevent various forms of forgetfulness.

The event took place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Shahrivar 5, 1403, in the Khosravi Hall, and was open to all Zoroastrians free of charge.
