Ambassador of Japan visited Tehran Adorian Fire Temple

On Saturday, Ambassador of Japan and her delegation visited Tehran Adorian Fire Temple.

As reported by Amordad and the Public Relations Office of the Zoroastrian Association of Tehran, the visit occurred on Tir 13, 1403 (July 13). Mobed Kourosh Bolandi provided the visitors with insights into the history and construction of the sacred fire temple, as well as information about its eternal flame. The delegation also gained a deeper understanding of Zoroastrian culture and traditions.

The Adorian Fire Temple, dating back to the Qajar era, was registered as a national heritage site of Iran on Esfand 11, 1381 (2002), with registration number 7442. The foundation stone of the temple, also known as the Tehran Fire Temple, was laid in Amordad 1293 (1914), and it was inaugurated during the Azargan festival in 1296 (1917) through the combined efforts of Indian Parsis, led by Behramji Bikaji, and the Zoroastrians of Tehran.

Constructed with financial contributions from Indian Parsis and Zoroastrians in Iran and India, the temple houses the sacred Varhram fire. The late Mobeds Ardeshir Rostam Rostami, Bahram Rashid Shid, and Hormazdyar Bahram Soroush transported this fire from Yazd, performing special rituals during their 25-day journey. The fire was placed in the temple’s fire altar during the Azargan festival. This flame, which the Mobeds diligently maintain from dawn till dusk, originates from the ancient Azar Faranbagh Fire Temple in Karian, Fars, and has been kept alight for thousands of years.
