Zoroastrian communal prayers in Seti Peir shrine

On Ashtad Izad day of Khordad month, Seti Peir shrine was host to Zoroastrian community members.

On Ashtad Izad day of the month of Khordad, in Seti Peir shrine Zoroastrians praised Ahura Mazda for all his blessings, and then started off towards Peir Chak Chak, and from this day, in the Zoroastrian calendar, named Ashtad Izad of the month of Khordad, communal prayers started in Peir Chak Chak.  From ashtad Izad upto Anarom Izad day, Zoroastrians from all over Iran, come to Peir Sabz shrine for pilgrimage. Seti Pir is the temple, located near Maryamabad, one of the Zoroastrian neighborhoods around Yazd. Its structure is like a castle, where the remains of four ancient towers can be seen around the castle.

Seti Peir is the name of a shrine close to Maryam Abad, one of the Zoroastrian inhabited villages in Yazd. Its structure is like a fort, and ruins of four ancient towers can be seen on four corners of the fort. Inside one of the rooms of the shrine there is a well which is 50m deep In another part of the shrine, there is an old cypress tree. Supervision and maintenance of this shrine is the responsibility of the Association of this village. Ancient Iranians acknowledged that beauty, joy, freedom and magnanimity are phenomenon worthy of praise and always tried to achieve these qualities and share them with others. They would try bringing Zoroastrians from cities and villages together in one place (preferably shrines), at a certain time of the year, in order to come to know each other and their condition. They knew that in gatherings each other’s abilities were recognized and also shortcomings, so that the shortcomings were addressed in a proper way and also abilities were used for the betterment of the society members. In this way, each individual could achieve his rightful physical and mental health.
