During routine patrols in Yasuj, police uncovered a number of historical artifacts from the Elymaean* and Sasanian periods.
Seyed Mojtaba Amirhosseini, Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, reported that over 60 items from these eras were seized.
Authorities became suspicious of a private vehicle in one of the areas surrounding Yasuj. Upon inspection, 51 historical coins from various Elymaean and Sasanian periods were discovered and confiscated.
In addition to the coins, officers recovered two Islamic-era bracelets, six ancient rings, a metal detector, and several excavation tools.
*The Elymaean region, associated with the Seleucid and Parthian empires, existed prior to the rise of the Sasanian Empire and covered what is today, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, and Ilam provinces.
