Pir-e Narestaneh to Hold Gahambar Toji Ceremony

The Maryamabad Zoroastrian Association is set to host the Gahambar Toji ceremony at the Pir-e Narestaneh shrine.

according to the Association’s news, the ceremony will take place on Thursday, Amordad 2, 1404 (Khordad day of Amordad month, 3763 Zoroastrian calendar), beginning at 7:30 PM. Mobed Behzad Najmizadeh will lead the gahanbar prayers at the shrine.

Gahambars, in addition to their religious role, foster community through collective prayer, joy, acts of giving, and most importantly, by strengthening unity—making them a key pillar of Zoroastrian social cohesion. Traditionally held six times a year over five-day periods, each gahambar marks one of the six stages of creation according to Zoroastrian belief. When a gahambar is observed outside these six periods, it is called a Gahambar Toji.

Pir-e Narestaneh is located 31 kilometers east of Yazd, nestled at the base of Mount Darbid. This revered spiritual and historical site was registered as a national heritage monument of Iran on Khordad 17, 1378 (June 7, 1999), under registration number 2355. The Maryamabad Zoroastrian Association is responsible for its care and stewardship.
