The Hiromba fire ceremony was held on the evening of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the open space of the Sharifabad Fire Temple.
According to the Sharifabad Zoroastrian Association, preparations for the ceremony at Pir-e-Herisht and the Sharifabad Fire Temple had been underway for several days, thanks to the efforts of the association. As firewood (ghizal) was brought to the site, the ceremony began with Mobeds Mahyar Dehmobed and Shah-Behram Belivani leading the fire-lighting ceremony.
Before lighting the fire, Hooman Abyari performed a recitation of the sacred Gathas along with their translation. This was followed by the religious hymn Ashmavohu and the national anthem “Ey Iran.”
In his speech, Mobed Shah-Behram Belivani, Chairman of the Sharifabad Zoroastrian Association, discussed the history of the Hiromba ceremony and the preparations made by the association for the ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to organizing the event at both Pire-Herisht and Sharifabad. He also thanked the local government departments in Ardakan for their support in preparing for the ceremony. Furthermore, the Chairman expressed his appreciation to Behshid Barkhordar, the Zoroastrian representative in Parliament, and Mostafa Pourdehghan, the Ardakan representative, for their assistance in securing funds for the hot asphalt road project leading to Pire-Herisht.
Mobed Shah-Behram Belivani also extended his gratitude to Esfandiar Ekhtiyari for his collaboration in the development of the road infrastructure to Pir-e-Herisht, which enabled the asphalt project. He also expressed thanks to the 27th Sharifabad Zoroastrian Association for their efforts in advocating for the road’s asphalt from Koh-e-Sorkh to Pir-e-Herisht.
During the ceremony, the Sharifabad Zoroastrian Association honored the late Shahrokh Jahangir Salamat, a former member of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association, with a moment of silence to commemorate his contributions. The late Jahangir Salamat had played an essential role in organizing the Hiromba ceremony and preserving the Ghizal tradition.
Following this, the Mobeds recited an Avestan prayer for the fire and the souls of the departed, while community members joined in paying tribute. They offered prayers in front of the Hiromba fire.
At the culmination of the ceremony, the Mobeds, along with a daf drum group, circled the Hiromba fire, igniting its brilliant flames, and participants exchanged well-wishes for health and happiness.
The first day of the Hiromba ceremony took place on Monday, Farvardin 25 (April 14, 2025), aligning with Ord-e Izad Farvardin 3763 in the Zoroastrian calendar, at the Pir-e-Herisht shrine.
