During excavations in Russia, archeologists found a number of historic artifacts including Iranian jewels and an Iranian sword.
According to ISNA, archaeologists exploring the Taman Peninsula in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia found a collection of historical artifacts, such as an engraved Iranian sword from the 4th to the 6th century AD, in the grave of a warrior.
According to archaeologists, the sword discovered in this place shows this place’s cultural and political connection with the Sassanids. It is believed that it could have been a diplomatic gift or a war booty, showing up in this area.
Among other artifacts discovered, remains of leashes and belt buckles, valuable pieces such as glass, wooden and metal containers, and wooden boxes containing decayed clothes.
A cemetery from the 1st century AD was also investigated during the exploration of this area. As a result, the remains of a woman’s body and a small silver medal placed on her body were discovered.
An image of the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite is engraved on this small medal. Such medals were common in the Bosphorus kingdom from the beginning of the second century BC and were used as brooches.
Several jewels, such as two rings and two silver earrings, and pendants in the shape of a cuckoo, have also been discovered in this grave. According to the connection between the cuckoo and the worship of Aphrodite, we can conclude that this grave belongs to a nun or worshiper. A red terracotta jar with twisted handles, iron scissors with bronze handles, a bronze mirror, and a necklace consisting of 157 beads were also found.
