The Iranian Kianpour garden in Damghan, architected by Khubchehr Keshavarzi and Yazdan Housvar, was registered in the list of the Garden of Culture of the National Commission for UNESCO.
The Cultural Garden Award of the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran was presented to the Iranian Garden of Kianpour for its representation of the Iranian Garden in line with the needs of man and nature in the city of Damghan. Registration of Damghan Iranian Garden in the list of cultural gardens of UNESCO National Commission is one of the honors of Engineer Khoobchehr Keshavarzi with the cooperation of her husband, Engineer Yazdan Housvar, architect and urban planner, members of the Iranian celebrated Architects’ Association, who worked with the design team for two years to create this Iranian Garden. On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, with Hojjatollah Ayoubi, Secretary-General of the National Commission for UNESCO of Iran, and officials of Damghan Municipality, Kianpour Iranian Garden was unveiled as the second cultural Garden of the National UNESCO Commission. This Iranian garden was made to show harmony between man and nature, in the city of Damghan.
The Secretary General of the National Commission of UNESCO/Iran stated that the Iranian Kianpour garden in Damghan will be nationally registered, called the architecture of this Iranian Garden unparalleled and a sign of ancient Iranian culture and magnificence, and said: “The architecture, type of structure and green space of this manifestation of the history of damghan has been created in a traditional style, taken from historical gardens. Pointing out that Iranian gardens are famous all over the world, he expressed his satisfaction that today there are experts who have revived the concepts of the Iranian Garden according to the criteria.”
In her speech, eng. Khubchehr Keshavarzi expressed her gratitude to Ali Akbar Kianpour, who has created this Iranian garden not only for the people of Damghan but for all Iranians, and thanked the staff of the National Commission of UNESCO, who have always been keen to introduce symbos of Iranian culture to the world. Gifts as memory of the occasion were presented to Khubchehr Keshavarzi and Yazdan Koushvar, the famous Iranian architects and artists.
Damghan Iranian garden is one of the most significant cultural symbols in the city and unique as a welfare, recreation and tourism center in Semnan province. With the help of a donor from Damghan, Mr Ali Akbar Kianpour, the garden was created on 18.5 sq hectors out of the 40 sq hectors of damghan Student Park. This cultural garden includes Mafakher Square (famed names of Iran), a pavilion with architecture of Iranian gardens, and a fun walking path. After the Cultural Garden of Karaj, Kianpour Garden was opened as the second cultural garden with the UNESCO logo. Damghan Iranian Garden was registered in the UNESCO world heritage site by receiving the Cultural Garden Award of the National Commission for UNESCO.
The UNESCO national emblem reminds us that the past of our country left a legacy for us and we must prove that we will not forget the past and will create relics for the future generations. World culture and civilization have taken the garden concept from the achaemenid gardens (called Pardis or Paradise). In 2011, 9 Iranian gardens were registered globally to introduce the idea of the Iranian garden to the world. The Iranian Garden is a long-standing ancient work that has been recognized and recorded worldwide, which shows the culture and civilization of Iran.
