Dr. Simin Manouchehri Kalantari won second place in the country in the specialized encyclopedia exam (specialized board) in occupational medicine.
When announcing the top ranks of the specialized board exam in 1400, the name of Simin Manuchehri Kalantari came up as second in the field of occupational medicine. Dr. Simin, daughter of Mahnaz Namiranian and Jamshid Manouchehri Kalantari, was born in 1371 in Yazd. She graduated from Yazd University of Medical Sciences in the field of medicine. After finishing her outside-the-capital service term in the village of Nir, she completed the specialized assistant course in occupational medicine and occupational diseases at Yazd University of Medical Sciences.
The field of occupational medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, control and treatment of work-related diseases among the working class and complications caused by the work environment. Simin Manouchehri, a Zoroastrian physician, speaks about the motivation for choosing occupational medicine as a specialized course: “Prevention is more important than treatment. I chose this field because I thought that preventive medicine can better help my compatriots, as well as the existence of valuable professors and role models in this field, such as Dr. Mehrparvar, and my interest in research in the field of occupational diseases.”
The specialized board exam is held at the end of the specialized courses, in both theoretical and oral stages. The board degree is of a higher scientific and research value for complementary studies (fellowships or specialty course), and is needed for employment in university faculties. Yazd University of Medical Sciences is the second university after Tehran University to accept an assistant professor in medicine.
