Behshid Barkhordar, the representative of Zoroastrian Iranians in parliament, visited the families of martyrs Rostam Azarbad and Dariush Shahzadi during his trip to Yazd. These meetings took place in two separate sessions on Monday, Tir 18, 1403. Barkhordar had the opportunity to visit the parents of Iranian martyr Rostam Azarbad and also met with Mobed Fariborz Shahzadi, the brother of martyr Dariush Shahzadi, at the Yazd Fire Temple.
Rostam Azarbad was the son of Mehraban Ardeshir Azarbad and Homayoun Beman Ardeshir Shahriari, born in 1344 in Yazd. After receiving his diploma in 1363, he joined the army. Following his training, he was transferred to Shiraz for military service. During the war, he was sent to Kurdistan to confront the enemy. Serving as a radio operator on the Western Front, he and his comrades were captured by the enemy on the 30th of Khordad 1365, in the final days of his service. As a wireless operator with confidential information, he endured torture but bravely resisted the enemy’s attempts to extract information. Unable to break his resolve, the enemy bombarded him, and Rostam Azarbad sacrificed his life in the imposed war out of love for Iran.
Dariush Shahzadi was born in 1328 in Tehran, the son of Mobed Rostam Shahzadi and Dowlat Lohrasb. He studied electrical engineering at the University of Science and Technology. He was working for the Broadcasting Organization when, on Azar 6, 1360, he was killed in the initial moments of a car bomb explosion near the gas station next to the Kurosh store in Tehran. His wife, Golrokh Mehri, passed away in 1402 after enduring 42 years of suffering. Their only child was injured in his mother’s arms during the explosion.
