The dome of the 1000-year-old Lajim Savadkouh mausoleum is cracked due to the growth of a tree. The pictures published in the virtual space show that in the upper part of the arched belt of the dome, the growth of a tree and its roots have caused damage to parts of the structure’s dome.
The construction date of the Lajim Tomb Tower dates back to the Al-Ziyar era and their rule over Tabarestan; the conical dome is double-sided, straight on the outside, and simple and circular inside. In the lower part of the arches connected to the dome are two stone inscriptions with Pahlavi and kufi handwritings, like two ribons attached to each other, all around the dome. Two stone inscriptions with carved brick decorations were located on a white plaster background, which has disappeared today. The Kufi inscription, found in the lower part of the Pahlavi inscription, shows the construction date of the building as 413 lunar year and the tomb in the name of Kia Ismail Abolfavares Shahriar Ibn Abbas.”
As ISNA has reported, Mohsen Bastani Mojaveri, acting deputy director of cultural heritage, confirmed the news of the cracking of this tower and said: arrangements have been made to send the protection and restoration unit to this historical structure so that after estimating the damage, the restoration operation of the structure and preventing the spread of damage will be carried out.
Bastani Mojaveri said that no estimate had been made so far, and the amount of damage will be announced after the visit and examination of the organization’s experts.
Lajim Mausoleum Tower was registered under registration number 185 in 1311 (1932) and was included in the list of national monuments of Iran. In 1338, the Association of National Antiquities of Iran allocated a budget for the restoration of this historic structure, and the required materials were provided from Tehran and transported to Lajim under directorship of the architect of the General Directorate of Archeology at the time and with the cooperation of the supervisors of the “Shirgah Traversing” factory. After that, the subsequent restoration was done in 1382 (2003), and finally, the last repair of the structure, in which the Kufi inscription was seriously damaged, was done in the 90s.
