The writing of a biography of the famous journalist and writer of Iranian romances, “R.Etamidi,” began with the efforts of Houman Zarif.
Houman Zarifi, writer and documentary maker, writes one or two books about the character that appears in from of his camera, after creating each documentary film.
This book, which is called “R. Etimadi narrated by R. Etimadi,” is the result of Houman Zarif’s continuous conversations with Rajabali Etimadi (R. Etimadi) about his private life, social life, political views, and romantic life, which is evident in all his works. Houman Zarif has had a video interview with this author for ten months every Monday for an average of 2 hours a week. From these video interviews, he prepared the long documentary “R.Etamidi narrated by R.Etamidi” in 1398 (2019).
R.Etemadi is the author of best selling romance books, who after the revolution, had to return to the publishing world under the name “Mehdi Etemadi), in order to be able to continue writing. Despite all the difficulties, he never gave up and stayed in Iran. In this regard, he once said “Fish from the Persian Gulf cannot live in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Therefore, the dialogues of this documentary maker and literary/historical researcher with R. Etemadi has not only analyzed this well known writer’s worldview, his scholarly views, and his critical/social approach, but also his romantic view of human relations during the six decades of writing and journalism. Sociological, literary and aesthetic criticism of R. Etemadi’s books have been considered in this biography interests the author.
His works on critique of different articles and also his knowledge of the art of writing have two main features. First of all, the romantic, national, and philosophical view of R.Etmidami’s belief in mysticism, approved by Sheikh Kharqani, Bayazid Bastami, and Nizami Ganjei, becomes more outstanding in his post-revolutionary novels. His social and artistic notes, especially in defense of Music, are evident in the period between Bahman 135- (1948) upto Khordad 1359 (1980).
Considering that R.Etmadami was one of the first presenters of the television news program in the early months of the foundation of in Iran by Sabet Pasal, and on the other hand during his editorship with Youth Magazine, he made a significant contribution to the introduction of Iranian jazz, rock, and pop music in the 40s (Iranian solar calendar) (60s), this book will have fascinating and interwoven chapters, with new and untold stories.
Introducing Ebrahim Hamedi (EBI) Iranian classical music activists such as Ostad Ebadi and the late Davood Pirnia (founder of the Flowers program), proofreader and receiver of The news of the first notes of Dr Bastani Parisi, patron of Shahyar Ghanbari in presenting translation of western songs, and start of songwriting, and organizing large concerts of several thousand people of Iranian rock bands in the forties is one of the various aspects of the personality of this author, a well-known name in the history of Iranian novels.
Houman Zarif hopes that this book will be unveiled in February 1402 in the presence of R. Etamidi, and in this way, as a journalist, he will pay his respects to the history of journalism.
