Gahanbar Toji ceremony in Pir-e-Rish-Safid, Narsi Abad

Zoroastrian Association of Narsi Abad, Yazd, with the help of co-religionists, organized the Ghanbar Toji ceremony at the shrine of Pir Rish Safid.

The Gahanbar ceremony was held on Saturday, 26th of Shahrivar month 1401 (September 16, 2022), corresponding to the Ormazdrooz and Mehr month of the Zoroastrian calendar. Mobed Iraj Dehmobed performed the ceremony prayers. Pir-e-Rish-Safid Shrine is a part of Rostam Khodadad Yazadabadi Primary School. The construction of the primary school dates back 111 years ago.

In the summer of 1390 (2011) this place was renovated and repaired by the efforts of Narsi Abad Zoroastrians and its youth. The Narsi Abad teenagers and young people spend most of their time exercising in this place. In the reconstruction, the traditional and old texture of the building has been preserved, and in order to make its age more visible old items have been put for display. The gahanbars are held in the name of Ravanshad (late) Rostam Khodadad Yazdabadi, by the Narsi Abad Zoroastrian Association with the support of benefactors.

Gahanbar Toji is a gahanbar performed at any time of the year except during the days of the 6 chahre of Gahanbar. Gahanbar Toji is held with the financial support and cooperation of a group of Zoroastrians, for the health and happiness of the living members of the community, or to express gratitude for the end of illness or other hardships. Today, Zoroastrian Associations and organizations organize Gahanbar Toji together with the monthly celebrations (coinciding of the name of the month with the roj), Sadeh, the death anniversary of Ashu Zarathushtra, and anniversaries of the reopening of religious and cultural centers.
