Death of two cultural experts, Bagher Parham and Abdolali Qavam

The death of Bagher Parham; translator, researcher of philosophy and social science, and Abdolali Qavam; translator, researcher, writer and professor of political science, was sad news for cultural lovers. Bagher Parham was born on Tir 9, 1314 (1 July 1935), in Rudbar, and the books he translated in philosophy and sociology are still being reprinted. We can mention Hegel’s three famous works, Karl Marx and the Book of Studies on social classes, written by Georges Gurvitch.

Death of Abdolali Qavam, researcher and professor of social science, at the age of 78. Seyyed Abdul Ali Qavam was born in 1324 (1945) in Qazvin. In 1343 (1964), he entered the undergraduate political science course at the National University of Iran and graduated in 1347 (1968). Then he went to the University of Illinois and graduated in 1352 (1973) with a master’s degree in “Public Affairs Administration.” After that, he went to England, and after receiving his second master’s degree at the University of Aberdeen in the field of “Social Theory and Public Policy” in 1354 (1975), he continued his studies at the same university and graduated with a doctorate in political science in 1357 (1978).

Qavam returned to Iran after finishing his studies and became a member of the academic board of Shahid Beheshti University. At the same time, he assumed the headship of the education and research center of local organizations and municipalities of the country and remained in this position until 1359 (1980).

Qavam managed the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Shahid Beheshti University from 1366 (1987) to 1382 (2003). The book “Principles of Foreign Policy and International Policy” by Abdul Ali Qavam in 1370 (1991) was presented as a selected work at the book of the year ceremony.
