The first anniversary memorial for the late Azarmidokht Hormozan, a generous benefactor and dedicated cultural figure of the Zoroastrian community, was held on the morning of 18 Bahman 1404 (February 7, 2026) at Parvaresh Kindergarten.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program began at 10:00 a.m. with Avesta recitation by Mobed Farzad Lohrasbi on Din Izad, Bahman month 3763 of the Zoroastrian calendar. Friends, community members, and several Zoroastrian officials attended the gathering to honor and remember the life and legacy of the late Azarmidokht Hormozan (Varjavand).<\/p>\n

Born in 1937 in Yazd, Hormozan grew up in a culturally engaged family and pursued education with encouragement from her grandfather. She established her first school in Hosseinabad, Yazd, and later worked for nearly twenty years as an official teacher in Yazd and Ardakan, as well as at Iranshahr and Markar schools. After marrying the late Rashid Varjavand, she moved to Tehran and continued teaching first-grade students in various schools.<\/p>\n

A devoted supporter and donor to Dr. Bahram Parvaresh Kindergarten, she organized religious and cultural programs that introduced children to Zoroastrian traditions. Alongside her family life, she remained active in community service, serving two terms on the board of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association, three years as secretary of the Zoroastrian Women\u2019s Organization, and for many years supporting the Anahita Varjavand women\u2019s volleyball team.<\/p>\n

Her name is often remembered whenever acts of generosity and philanthropy are discussed, particularly for the charitable work she carried out in memory of her daughter, the late Anahita Varjavand. The loss of Anahita in 1991 was one of the most painful moments of her life, and from that time forward she devoted much of her cultural and humanitarian work to honoring her daughter\u2019s legacy. Her contributions included supporting book publications and sports programs, assisting educational institutions, and helping establish a manuscript restoration section at Yeganegi Library. Her legacy endures through her daughter Armita, who continues to keep the memory of this benevolent woman alive.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bahram Parvaresh Kindergarten, operating under the Tehran Zoroastrian Association, has served Zoroastrian toddlers and young children since 1979 with official authorization from the State Welfare Organization. The building was donated to the association by the late Dinyar Hormozdi, the adopted son of Dr. Bahram Parvaresh, in tribute to his adoptive father. The kindergarten is currently managed by Farnoush Noushirvani.<\/p>\n
