{"id":160591,"date":"2025-12-29T15:40:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T12:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.amordadnews.com\/?p=160591"},"modified":"2025-12-29T15:40:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T12:10:09","slug":"iran-ranks-10th-in-unesco-world-heritage-sites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.amordadnews.com\/?p=160591","title":{"rendered":"Iran Ranks 10th in UNESCO World Heritage Sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>With 29 sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, Iran ranks 10th globally in terms of the number of cultural and historical landmarks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the most recent update from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Iran\u2019s 29 registered sites place it among the top countries with the richest historical heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage include: Chogha Zanbil, Naqsh-e Jahan Square (Isfahan), Persepolis, Takht-e Soleiman, the Bam Citadel, Pasargadae, Soltaniyeh Dome, Bistoon, the Armenian Monastic Ensembles of Iran, Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System, the Historic Bazaar of Tabriz, Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah and Shrine Ensemble, Persian Gardens, Gonbad-e Qabus, Jameh Mosque of Isfahan, Golestan Palace, Shahr-e Sukhteh (the Burnt City), the Meymand Cultural Landscape, the Ancient City of Susa, Dasht-e Lut (Lut Desert), the Qanats of Iran, the Historic City of Yazd, the Sasanian Archaeological Landscape of Fars, the Hyrcanian Forests, the Trans-Iranian Railway, the Cultural Landscape of Uramanat, Iranian Caravansaries, Ecbatana, and the Prehistoric Site of Khorramabad Valley.<\/p>\n<p>In UNESCO\u2019s latest ranking, the countries ahead of Iran are Italy (61 sites), China (60), Germany (55), France (54), Spain (50), India (44), Mexico (36), the United Kingdom (35), and Russia (33), holding the first through ninth positions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With 29 sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, Iran ranks 10th globally in terms of the number of cultural and historical landmarks.
