We call for halting tunnel projects until proper environmental studies are completed.”

The drying of the Kuhrang Spring is expected to have irreversible consequences for the ecosystem, including vegetation and wildlife diversity, and for local communities. It may lead to agricultural collapse, desertification, and forced migration from areas that once depended on this life-giving water source.

The Kuhrang Spring, located in the Zardkuh Mountains of Bakhtiari, once the most abundant spring in Iran and the source of the Karun, Zayandeh-Rud, and Dez rivers, has stopped flowing after thousands of years of sustaining life.
