The Zoroastrian Chamber of Commerce of Iran hosted a seminar featuring Jamshid Darabian, retired bank director and head of the Financial Commission of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association, who spoke on the impact of political developments on Iran\u2019s economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Darabian explained that Iran\u2019s strategic location between the Heartland and the Rimland places it at the crossroads of global events. He noted that globalism has created significant challenges for the country, making investment difficult for its people.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that three U.S.-designed global orders\u2014the Bretton Woods system, Neoliberalism, and Trumpism\u2014have failed to resolve global economic issues. Regional agreements such as the Saadabad Pact, Baghdad Pact, CENTO, and SEATO were aimed at controlling Heartland power, while the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS were established to counter Rimland power.<\/p>\n

Darabian also noted that Trumpism, a conservative, anti-globalist, and pan-American nationalist approach, seeks to confront European globalist powers and China. In response, Iran is pursuing de-dollarization of its economy and exploring BRICS membership.<\/p>\n

While the U.S., facing economic competition from China, seeks closer ties with Iran, Darabian stressed that Iran, due to historical mistrust, prefers to strengthen relations with U.S. rivals such as China, Russia, and North Korea.<\/p>\n

The seminar took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the upper floor of Iraj Hall, the Tehran Zoroastrian Association\u2019s meeting venue.<\/p>\n
