The countdown has begun for the conclusion of the 45th term of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association. It is unclear which current members are eagerly awaiting the end of their tenure, though nearly half have already been selected for the next term.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tragically, during this term, the association lost two dedicated members, a rare occurrence\u2014the last time a member passed away during an active term was in the 40th term.<\/p>\n

Among Tehran\u2019s Zoroastrians, a key topic of discussion is which of the 21 candidates for the 46th term will assume the next presidency.<\/p>\n

The current chairperson was the top vote-getter in this term\u2019s election. Yet historically, first-place candidates rarely compete for the chair in internal elections, and when they do, they often do not succeed. Remarkably, in several consecutive terms, top candidates have been unable to complete their full term.<\/p>\n

For instance, the top candidate in the 37th term was initially disqualified by the Ministry of Interior. However, this candidate was later approved to run in the fifth parliamentary elections for the Zoroastrian constituency and emerged as a strong contender. They also joined the 39th term of the association but resigned shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n

In the 38th term, Tehran\u2019s top Zoroastrian candidate lost the internal election for chair and resigned shortly afterward. Tragically, a few years later, he was murdered near Paris.<\/p>\n

During the 39th term, the top candidate chose not to run for chair in the internal election but resigned from the association soon after.<\/p>\n

In the 40th term, the leading candidate, a member of the Zoroastrian clergy, was defeated in the internal chair election. He briefly served as deputy chair and resigned shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n

Following this controversial resignation, the head of the Health Commission of that term was elected deputy chair.<\/p>\n

This individual then became the top candidate in the 41st term and successfully won the internal election to serve as chair, breaking the cycle of challenges seen in previous terms. He remained as chair throughout the 41st term and was reelected for 42nd and 43rd terms, making him the most prominent member of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association since the revolution, with one term as deputy chair and three terms as chair.<\/p>\n

In the 42nd term, the top candidate, a member of the Zoroastrian clergy, was unable to attain the chair, losing to one of the most prominent members of the association since the revolution.<\/p>\n

The current chairperson of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association, who finished third in the 46th term election, could become the most distinguished member since the revolution if re-elected. He has already broken the long standing pattern of first-place candidates failing to reach the chair.<\/p>\n

It is my personal prediction that one of the top three candidates in the 46th term election will ultimately assume the presidency.<\/p>\n

The second-place winner in the 46th term had previously been the top candidate in the 44th term, though he did not compete in the internal election for chair that year.<\/p>\n

The first-place winner in the 46th term, also from the Zoroastrian clergy, had been the top candidate in the 43rd term but lost the internal chair election to a strong rival. If they attain the chair in the 46th term, they will become the first Zoroastrian clergy member to hold the presidency of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association.<\/p>\n

In any case, the 45th term of the Tehran Zoroastrian Association is coming to an end, and the discussions surrounding the leadership election for the 46th term have become highly charged. If he attains the chair in the 46th term, he will become the first Zoroastrian community, and that the most capable person will take the helm of this respected and prominent association.<\/p>\n

I also recognize that the chairperson of the 46th term and the other members will knowingly face challenges and sacrifices for themselves and their families in their service to the Zoroastrian community.<\/p>\n
