Unfortunately, Falak-ol-Aflak Castle and the Broken Bridge were not included due to not meeting UNESCO\u2019s global criteria.<\/p>\n<p>The prehistoric areas of the Khorramabad valley, situated prominently in the Central Zagros Mountains, served as a crucial migration corridor for early humans traveling from Africa to Asia and Europe. With its diverse natural environment, reliable water resources, ideal stone materials for tool production, moderate climate, and natural rock shelters, this region became one of the earliest known human settlements during the Middle Paleolithic period.<\/p>\n<p>Ata Hassanpour, Director General of Lorestan\u2019s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department, highlighted that this registration is Iran\u2019s first Paleolithic-era nomination and the oldest case ever recorded by UNESCO worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The prehistoric caves of Khorramabad are now Iran\u2019s 29th site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six ancient prehistoric caves in the Kohandareh region of Khorramabad, dating back more than 65,000 years, have been officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
