Promotion of the Women’s Volleyball Team of the Zoroastrian Youth Club of Yazd and Arya Mashhad to the Final

The second round of the first division volleyball league of the women’s championship of the country’s clubs ended after three days of follow-up on the third day of Bahman 1399 in Yazd’s Yeganegi Hall. The Zoroastrian Youth Team of Yazd (host) reached the top of the group, and with Aria Maqam Pars Mashhad, they reached the final.

The Zoroastrian Youth Team of Yazd won 3-2 against Arya Maqam Pars Mashad, and as the leader of the group, is promoted to the final of the first division of the women’s championship of the country’s clubs. The top four teams of the two groups will compete in the final at the time and place announced by the federation, and the two teams will advance to the Premier League.

According to IRNA-Yazd, ‘On the last day of this competition, which was held without spectators and under Ministry of Health codes due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the host team defeated Arya Maqam Pars Mashhad with a result of 3-2.

The final of the first division volleyball league of the women’s championship of the country’s clubs was held with the top four groups’ top four teams. The federation will announce time and place, and the two teams will advance to the Premier League.

Currently, Shahdab Yazd and Khatam Ardakan, two representatives of Yazd province, are present in the Premier League of the country’s clubs.

Zoroastrians’ population in Yazd province is about 6,000 who live in Yazd, Taft, Meybod, and Ardakan. The most popular shrine of this religious minority in the world is called “Chek Chek,” located in one of the mountainous areas of Ardakan city. The members of this ancient Iranian religion have a representative in the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

“Yazd province, with a population of nearly 1.2 million, has 48 sports teams and 62,000 athletes covered by sports insurance, of which about 2,000 are active in volleyball.”

A congratulation message was issued by Deputy Ministry of Sports of Yazd Municipality Socio-Cultural and Sports Organization to the technical staff, management, and players of Zoroastrian Youth Club of Yazd following the promotion of Yazdi women volleyball players for the first time in the top four teams of the country’s women’s volleyball league with the combination of Zoroastrian and Moslem women and expressing hope for the Zoroastrian youth team of Yazd in taking a step towards the championship and reaching the country’s women’s volleyball premier league.
