Sadeh Fire Lighting Ceremony Held in Karaj

The Zoroastrian Association of Karaj celebrated the Sadeh fire-lighting ceremony on the evening of 10 Bahman 1404 (January 30, 2026) at Dolat House.

The event, honoring the ancient Sadeh festival, was held outdoors with Mobed Goudarz Mavandi leading the rituals, and attended by Mehran Zendehnoush, head of the Zoroastrian Association of Karaj, along with community members.

Sadeh was recently recognized on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2023 for both Iran and Tajikistan, highlighting its status as one of the oldest Iranian festivals associated with fire, the origins of civilization, and the role of light in our lives. Today, Sadeh is celebrated not only in Iran but across the world, and its UNESCO recognition has enhanced its international significance.
