Outstanding Achievement by Shadmehr Rostami with a Mathematics Olympiad Gold Medal

Shadmehr Rostami, a promising young Zoroastrian student, has earned a gold medal at both the Singa Mathematics Olympiad and the AMO.

Born in Azar 1392 in Kerman, Shadmehr is the son of Helen Hemmati and Dadfar Rostami and currently attends the sixth grade at Shahid Mahdavi elementary school for the intelligent. His aptitude for mathematics was first recognized by his parents and later reinforced by his second-grade teacher, Ms. Karim-aldini, who identified his talent and encouraged him to pursue it. Shadmehr hopes to continue his studies in mathematics and engineering. He has been involved in mathematics and science olympiads since the fifth grade.

Commenting on his highly educated parents, Shadmehr said: “My mother, Helen Hemmati, holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering and graduated top of her class in both academic programs at Bahonar University of Kerman. My father, Dadfar Rostami, holds a master’s degree in architecture and ranked fifth in the national mathematics olympiad during his third year of high school.”

Reflecting on his previous olympiad experience, the young gold medalist added:

  • In the first round of the Singa Mathematics Olympiad (Singapore), he earned a silver medal, and in the second round, he secured a gold medal, placing third overall.
    • He received a gold medal in the AMO (Asian Mathematics Olympiad).
    • He won a bronze medal in the Wenda Science Olympiad (Asia).
    • In the Caribou International Mathematics Olympiad (Canada), he ranked within the top two percent of participants worldwide.
    • He also received a silver medal in the SASMO Mathematics Olympiad (Singapore–Asia).

Highly driven, this young gold medalist hopes to be admitted into the Asia Elite Association, a goal he will reach with one additional medal. Within the Zoroastrian community, Shadmehr Rostami is active in Shahnameh recitation and choir. He is also engaged in sports and has earned distinctions in football, swimming, and chess at the Janbakhtegan Cup.
