The Zoroastrian Association of Yazd is organizing a series of sessions titled “Zoroastrian Traditions Concerning the Body of the Deceased,” featuring lectures by Dr. Bahman Moradian, a scholar with a Ph.D. in Ancient Culture and Languages.
According to the association’s announcement, these sessions are intended to deepen community members’ understanding of the history of Yazd’s dakhmas (towers of silence), burial customs, and related rituals within the Zoroastrian tradition.
Schedule:
- First Session: Monday, 1 Dey 1404 (December 21, 2025), at 5:00 p.m., Bozorgchami Hall, Yazd. The topic will address dakhma practices and associated customs.
- Second Session: Monday, 8 Dey 1404 (December 28, 2025), at 5:00 p.m., Bozorgchami Hall, Yazd. This session will focus on the Zoroastrian dakhmas of Yazd and their value as part of the community’s religious and cultural heritage.
In addition, a public visit to the Zoroastrian Dakhma of Yazd, including its khilehs (funerary chambers) and surrounding sites, will be held on Friday, 12 Dey 1404 (January 2, 2026), starting at 10:30 a.m.
