Kourosh Yaghmaei Announces Retirement from Music

The forthcoming release of two albums “Yaghi” and “Plaque 44″—by Kourosh Yaghmaei, the influential Iranian singer, composer, director, and multi-instrumentalist, under the American label Now Again Records, has been accompanied by another significant announcement: Yaghmaei is formally retiring from the music scene. Widely celebrated as the “Father of Iranian Rock,” Yaghmaei shaped the sound of a generation with his daring compositions and poetic lyricism, giving Iranian rock a distinct cultural identity. After decades of creativity and artistic dedication, he has now chosen to conclude his musical career.

In a post on his social media page, Yaghmaei wrote that his supporters know well the challenges he has faced: “To continue working in music—navigating this rough and narrow path without even the most basic resources—I have devoted everything within my power to serve the magnificent and cherished culture and identity of my beloved Iran.”

He added: “I now inform all my kind friends that with the upcoming release of my latest album, ‘Pelak 44’, by “Now Again Records” Company and the dear Eothen Alapatt, I will, as previously stated, step away from music after its publication.”

He concluded with a briefly message:  “May God preserve Iran”.
