Lullaby in the Lori language Added to the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List

The traditional Lori lullaby has officially been inscribed on Iran’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

Ata Hassanpour, Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts in Lorestan Province, announced the registration, highlighting that the Lori lullaby is a treasured aspect of the oral and musical heritage of the Lori people.

He explained that this national recognition was carried out in accordance with Articles 11 and 12 of the Law on Iran’s Accession to the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ratified in 2005) and Articles 2 and 3 of the related executive regulations approved by the Cabinet in 2008.

Hassanpour emphasized that the initiative aims to preserve and promote the intangible cultural heritage of Lorestan’s towns and villages, ensuring that authentic local cultural expressions are passed down to future generations.

He also noted that registering these musical and oral traditions nationally not only affirms their cultural value but also strengthens both national and international awareness of Lorestan’s heritage, creating opportunities for educational and research activities in the field of local culture.
