The Zoroastrian community of Jafarabad honored the Shabash Hozoro ceremony together with the Gahambar ceremony, following the ancient Zoroastrian calendar, at the Jafarabad Fire Temple.
The Shabash Hozoro ceremony took place on the afternoon of Monday, July 20, 2025 (30 Tir 1404), attended by a group of devoted Zoroastrians. The Gahambar prayers were led by Mobed Beman Kiani.
After the Gahambar ceremonies, participants celebrated the traditional Shabash by offering “Tandorosti” (wishes of good health) to the elders and saying “Khoda Biyamorzid” (may God forgive them) in remembrance of their departed loved ones.
At the end of the ceremony, everyone gathered at Der Mehr with Mobed Beman Kiani to recite Avesta prayers for health and well-being for themselves and their families.
Guests were warmly hosted with sherbet, sweets, fruit, and dinner during the event.
Zoroastrians call the celebration of Ahura Mazda’s birth which commemorates several significant events on this day. The Shabash ceremony is part of the festivities marking Zarathushtra’s birth, observed on the Khordad day of Farvardin according to the Zoroastrian calendar—corresponding to the sixth of Farvardin in the national calendar.
The Zoroastrians of Hasanabad in Meybod, Yazd, also observe this ceremony based on the ancient Zoroastrian calendar traditions.
