A memorial service for the late Allahyar Dabestani, a generous Zoroastrian benefactor, was held in Vancouver, Canada, with his family in attendance.
The ceremony took place on July 13, 2025 (Sunday, 22 Tir 1404) at Der Mehr Vancouver and was organized by Mrs. Homa Eshtari, Director of Celebrations and Ceremonies at the British Columbia Zoroastrian Association.
The presence of the Dabestani family added a special significance to the event, which was conducted in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Attendees shared memories of Allahyar’s kindness and his devoted support, particularly to newcomers in North America.
Ardeshir Dabestani spoke fondly of his father, occasionally using the Sharifabadi dialect, recalling his birth in Sharifabad, his challenging yet fulfilling life, and his passing in Seattle. He highlighted his father’s humility and respect for all people, noting that even during his final days in the hospital, Allahyar remained cheerful and kind.
Other speakers included Mobed Touraj Khodabakhshi, Farahnaz Reyhani, and Firdosh Mehta, who conveyed a message through Homi Italia. Messages from Mojdeh Shahriari, Fariborz Azar Keyvan, and a video from Sharogh Daroowala were also shared with attendees.
The service concluded with refreshments served to the guests.
May the spirit of Allahyar Dabestani and all those who dedicated their lives to serving others find peace. Blessed are those who leave behind a legacy of goodness.
