Commemoration of the ancient shabash ceremony at Hassanabad fire temple

The Zoroastrian community of Hassanabad honored the Hozoro festival and the Shabash ceremony according to the ancient Zoroastrian calendar, paying tribute to their ancestors.

The event, which included the traditional Chak-o-Doleh (pot divination) ceremony, took place on the evening of Monday, July 20, 2025 (30 Tir 1404) in the Khodarahm Hall of the Der Mehr Complex in Hassanabad.

The Hozoro festivity marks the birth of Zarathushtra and several auspicious occurrences on this day. The Shabash ceremony, being part of these celebrations, is observed on the Khordad day of the Farvardin month in the Zoroastrian calendar, corresponding to the sixth of Farvardin in the national calendar.

During the Shabash ceremony, Zoroastrians offer wood to the fire keeper, who wishes to maintain the sacred fire in the Der Mehr (fire temple).

The Zoroastrians of Hassanabad, Meybod, Yazd, continue to uphold this tradition based on the ancient Zoroastrian calendar.
