The Gahanbar ceremony of Chehre Maidh-yo-shema and the Tirgan festival were jointly celebrated by Zoroastrians living in San Diego, USA, in a local park.
On Sunday, June 29, 2025 (8 Tir 1404), the Gahanbar group held the Maidh-yo-shema Gahanbar and Tirgan celebrations. Mobeds Fariborz Shahzadi, Dr. Bahram Firouzgar, and Anousheh Bastani led the Avesta ceremony for the Gahanbar. Mehri Shahzadi gave a brief talk about the history of the Tirobad wristbands to attendees.
After the ceremony, participants enjoyed traditional treats including Lork, sliced fruits, halva, and kamaj. Lunch was served family-style. Most attendees celebrated Tirgan by playfully sprinkling water on one another.
Later in the afternoon, a group of participants joined a nature walk led by a park expert, learning about the local plants and environment. Other activities the traditional chak-o-duleh (luck in the jar) and recitations of Hafez’s poetry. The strong and heartfelt participation of Zoroastrian and Iranian community members made the celebration especially meaningful.
