Behshid Barkhordar, the Zoroastrian representative in the Iranian Parliament, visited Fars Province to attend the 43rd Annual Seminar on Plant Protection and Phytosanitary Measures. During her trip, she also held a meeting with the Zoroastrian Association of Shiraz.
In a report shared with Amordad, she summarized the highlights of her visit:
Participation in the National Seminar and Community Engagement
As Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Plant Protection and Food Security, Barkhordar emphasized the committee’s commitment to supporting the Plant Protection Organization’s strategies and initiatives, which play a vital role in safeguarding the country’s food security.
She mentioned that her participation in the seminar aimed at supporting the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad’s efforts towards pest and disease control, responsible pesticide use, and product traceability in agriculture.
Barkhordar added that the required funding has been allocated under the Seventh Development Plan, and affirmed:
“If legal amendments or additional financial resources are needed, the Agriculture Commission is fully prepared to support them.”
Later in the trip, Barkhordar—accompanied by two colleagues from the parliamentary commission—met with members of the Zoroastrian Association of Shiraz, engaging in discussions about the community’s current needs and future initiatives.
