Nowruz Celebrations in Ardakan Cut Short as Banners Are Removed!

As Nowruz approached, banners celebrating Iranian culture and heritage were installed throughout Ardakan, welcoming travelers and tourists to the city. However, these banners were unfortunately taken down shortly after due to certain considerations.

Some of the banners featured images of Zarathustra alongside messages highlighting Iranian civilization, portraying Ardakan as a center of cultural authenticity. Given the symbolic significance of Nowruz—a time of renewal and fresh beginnings—this initiative held special value.

The banners received widespread appreciation from the people of Ardakan, with many locals expressing their joy. They saw them as not only a reinforcement of their cultural identity but also an opportunity to introduce the city’s rich history to younger generations and visitors. Furthermore, such gestures were viewed as a means of strengthening cultural and national unity among Iranians.

Despite the public’s positive response, the Ardakan Municipality ultimately removed the banners due to certain considerations.

Rediscovering Roots in Ardakan

Ardakan has long stood as a symbol of Iranian heritage and civilization. With its deep cultural roots and rich history, the city is known as a significant center of the Zoroastrian faith—one of the world’s oldest religions, founded on the teachings of Zarathushtra. However, after the arrival of Islam in Iran, the practice and promotion of Zoroastrianism became increasingly restricted. Now, a recent development in Ardakan has drawn considerable attention.

The installation of Nowruz banners featuring images of messenger Zarathustra highlights the city’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its cultural identity. This initiative not only reinforces Ardakan’s historical legacy but also has the potential to enhance tourism, strengthen the local economy, and promote a sense of national unity among Iranians of all backgrounds.

May this endeavor mark a meaningful step toward reviving Iranian culture and civilization, inspiring future generations, and fostering peaceful coexistence and mutual respect for cultural diversity in Iran.
