Khodayar Zand Khavari, former head of Qasemabad Zoroastrian Association, passed away

Khodayar Zand Khavari, the former head of the Qasemabad Zoroastrian Association and a respected veteran teacher, passed away on the 1st of Bahman 1403 (20th January 2025), at the age of 99.

Born on 2nd Day 1304 (20th January 1925) in Yazd, Khodayar was the son of the late Dowlat and Rostam. He passed away on Tuesday, 1st of Bahman 1403.

The funeral ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, 3rd of Bahman, at the Zoroastrian cemetery in Yazd, followed by the third-day memorial service. The fourth-day ceremony will be held at 6:00 AM on Friday, 4th of Bahman, at the Master Mahyar Ardeshir Hall in Qasemabad. The seventh-day memorial will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, 5th of Bahman, at the same location.

Khodayar Zand Khavari spent his early years in Naeimabad, Yazd, and at the age of 9 moved to Qasemabad, where he continued his education at Qasemabad Elementary School, Diniyari, Markar, and Iranshahr schools. He graduated from the Teacher Training College at 19 and began his teaching career at the age of 20 in Shahr-e-Babak, serving as both teacher and administrator for three years. He later worked for two years as a teacher and principal in Hemmatabad, a village near Mehriz, before settling in Yazd.

After 33 years of dedicated service, Khodayar retired but remained an active figure within the Zoroastrian community. He married Shirin Khodadadi from Mubarak, and together they had five children: Rostam, Sohrab, Esfandiar, Dowlat, and Parvin.
