Legendary Iranian Actress and Voice Artist Zhaleh Olov Passed Away

Zhaleh Olov, a distinguished actress in theater, cinema, and television, as well as a renowned radio voice artist and poet, passed away on Monday, 3 Dey, at the age of 97 in Tehran.

Born in 1306 (1927) in Shariat Alley, located in Tehran’s Sanglaj neighborhood, Olov was the daughter of a military officer and the granddaughter of Olov-ol-Saltaneh, a prominent calligrapher from the Qajar era. She grew up immersed in the literary masterpieces of great Iranian poets like Hafez, Saadi, and Rumi. As a teenager, she joined literary societies and poetry recitation groups, which eventually led to her debut as a poetry reciter and radio voice artist in 1327 (1948).

A pioneer in acting and voice work, Olov was recognized in 1389 (2010) as one of the honorees of the Eighth Eternal Figures Ceremony.

Throughout her illustrious career, Zhaleh Olov delivered memorable performances in numerous films, television series, and theater productions. She also lent her voice to leading characters in international cinema and worked as a dubbing director for various films and shows.
