Baram Alvan wetland of Bahmani city, won international registration

The Ramsar Convention registered Baram Alvan wetland in the city of Bahmani, as a global site.

Director General of Environmental Protection of Kohkeylouyeh and Boyer Ahmad Province, informed of Baram alvan wetland in Bahmani city being globally registered and protected.

according to Islam Javidankherad, Director General of Environmental Protection Organization, Kohkeylouyeh and Boyer Ahmad, and as published in Amordad, in Ramsar Convention the Baram Alvan wetland was registered internationally, on 14th Bahman 1402 (February 2024), as a result of great efforts put in by the management team of the province and the Environmental Protection Organization.

International recognition of this wetland will establish the grounds for this wetland to receive international aid” said the director General of Environmental Protection, Kohkeylouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province, who then congratulated the nature-loving citizens of Bahmani city, on their achievement.

Javidankherad added: “The convention emphasizes on protection and sustained use of wetlands, especially protection of the aquatic habitat and the aquatic birds and increases positive approach towards protection and sustained exploitation of wetlands. The convention considers wetlands as ecosystems that are extremely important in protecting biodiversity and the wellbeing of human societies.

He continued: “Baram Alvan wetland in Bahmani city is one of the important tourist attractions of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, which annually hosts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.”
