The famous song, “Daya Daya Vaghte Jangeh”, as a reminder of the days of bravery and endurance, and also the Komuz instrument were registered in the national list of Intangible Heritage.
In an interview with ISNA, Behruz Vojdani, member of the expert panel of the National Council for registration of intangible cultural heritage, referred to the results of the meeting of the national council, on February 11, and said: “From nearly 30 cases submitted by 5 provinces for registration, two cases, namely, “Song of Daya Daya Vaghte Jangeh” from Lorestan province and “The method of making and playing the Komuz instrument” from Central province were registered in the National List of Intangible Heritage.”
Behruz Vojdani, researcher and author in the fields of anthropology and music, described the importance of the song, Daya Daya, and said: “This song is more than hundred years old, and its roots go back to the First World War and the time of the presence of Russian and British forces in Iran; When foreign peoples harassed the Lors, they made this song to unite and empower the spirit of bravery in their people, which has shown their courage and stability. Daya Daya song is mainly performed with the fiddle, the essential instrument of the Lor people.”
During the war that Iraq imposed on Iran, this national song was one of the memorable works of music, which played a subtle role in strengthening the morale of the warriors at that time.
He added: “Although this song’s origin is from Lorestan and was popular among the Lore tribes, however, due to its meaning and nature, it is now no longer limited to the geography of Lorestan but known all over Iran and is sung during struggles for strengthening the spirit of bravery and endurance. It is called the spirit of bravery and perseverance.”
It is worth noting that the song, Daya Daya, sung by the late Reza Saqaie, is also registered in the list of the famous works of Iranian music.
