The sacred ceremony of the first gahanbar of the year, in praise of the creation of the skies, was held together with the 12th anniversary of the opening of the Zoroastrian House of Culture and Art in Tehran, and also celebration of the Persian Gulf national day, simultaneously.
On saturday, 10th Ordibehesht, 1401 (official solar calendar) and Khor Izad Day in the Zoroastrian calendar, the executive board of the Zoroastrian House of Culture and Art hosted the Maidyozarem gahanbar, on the occasion of the Persian Gulf national day and the 12th anniversary of the opening of the Zoroastrian House of Culture and Art. This ceremony is held every year in the names of the benevolent donors, Mobed Fereydoun Bahman Zartoshti, Mobed Mehraban Jamshid Zartoshti, Mobed Farzad Lohrasbi was in charge of reciting the ceremony of Gahanbar. Esfandiar Ekhtiari, Zoroastrian representative in the parliament, Afshin Namiranian, the representative of the Zoroastrian Association of Tehran, members of the elected executive board of the Zoroastrian Association of Tehran, Firoozeh Mavandadi, cultural liaison and member of Tehran Zoroastrian Association and several activists were present.
In his speech Kambi Forouzan, executive member of the Zoroastrian House of Culture and Art in Tehran, expressed his appreciation of the goodwill of the Zartoshti family and the officials who worked on the goals of this cultural institute, for 12 years, and referred to the selection process of the new executive board and then spoke about the activities of the House of Culture and Art in teaching art fields for young and adult groups. He explained that this would be planned and implemented according to the recent decisions made. In this regard, an invitation has been published and shared for the cooperation of art teachers. Culture issues will also be addressed, based on the Center’s constitution which has been notified by the Zoroastrian Association of Tehran. He continued his speech with the subject of the Persian Gulf national day and spoke about the history of its name and also the recent events.
Esfandiar Ekhtiari began his speech by commemorating two great men of the contemporary Zoroastrian history, namely, the late Arbab Fereydoun Zartoshti and the late Arbab Mehraban Zartoshti and their families, and the impact of cultural donations and valuable services of this highly cultured family beyond the boarders of Iran. He pointed out at the hardships of the two years that passed in the wake of the corona virus and the cultural programs held virtually during this period. He said that our community gathers strength with in-person participation and unity, and requested the executive board of the House of Culture and Art, that as long as the corona does not enforce new restrictions to hold programs with in-person presence of members of our community. He stressed that starting in-person programs should be one of the main factors of the House’s planning. Esfandiar Ekhtiari continued his speech with reference to celebration of Persian Gulf national day and said that the Persian gulf.
Kambiz Forouzan, Anahita Abdolsharifabadi, Kourosh Foroudi, Mahin Forouzeh, and Kourosh Moradian are members of the executive board of the House of Culture and Art elected by the Zoroastrian Association of Tehran. The Executive Board started its work in March 2022.
