Romina Zerehpoush, a young athlete, became one of Iran’s top 16 badminton players by participating in the national team qualifiers.
The selection competitions of the national youth team were held in Tehran, the national teams’ camp venue, from December 22, with participation of 39 players, in 3 days and 3 age categories. Romina Zerehpoush, the gold medalist of the country’s first division with a brilliant background in rankings and leagues, and after evaluation of her athletic performance by the badminton federation of Tehran province, was invited to the selection competitions of the national youth team in the under-19 age category. Romina won the preliminary table in 4-person groups, played three games, and became the leader of her group. At the main table and the final stage, she had a sensitive game and difficult confrontation with the top players of previous years. At this stage, she failed to become a national youth team member. By being among the top 16 players in Iran, she finished the national youth team selection competitions after three days.
Romina, daughter of Parastoo Mandegarian and Ramin Zarehpoushzadeh, born on March 11, 2004, is studying in the twelfth grade of accounting. This Zoroastrian athlete has three years of professional sports history and participation in badminton rankings and league competition in her record. In three years of professional activity, she has achieved the following positions:
- 2018: Second place in the team of the country’s top talents
- 2018: First place in the Double Rules league
- 2018: First place in the team of national education competitions
- 2019: Second place in free doubles of national education competitions
- 2020: First place in the first division of a country
She has also won top rankings in Shiraz Badminton Cups, Janbakhtegan, and Asha Cups.
